Payment Methods

What payment methods does the OU Bookstore accept?
The OU Bookstore accepts the following:

Website
Credit/Debit Card
Other OU payment types--if you have been notified by OU that you have a scholarship, etc. 

VA Payments for those with VA funds

Can I have my textbooks billed to my student account?
No, OU does not allow students to charge textbooks to their bursar account. 
Why do I need to hold a debit/credit card on file for a rental?
The OU Bookstore requires a debit/credit card to be held on file in case the rental is not returned. The card will be charged to buyout the textbook(s). 
After placing an order I received an order confirmation, does that mean my payment method has been charged?
No, the order confirmation email is only to confirm your and payment method information has been received. Once your order is fulfilled, your payment method on file will be charged, and you will receive a second email confirming your order has shipped or is ready-to-pickup.
After I enter my credit card information, the website says "Billing system error." How do I fix this?
Please verify the credit/debit card number is correct. If it's incorrect, please re-enter your card number. If the card number is correct, please verify that the billing address is the address on file with your bank/financial institution. If it's incorrect, please re-enter the correct billing address.

Do you store my credit card information?

All card payments are processed securely through Braintree, a PCI-compliant payment processor. Your full credit card number is never stored on our systems and is never accessible to bookstore staff.

What is a token?

A token does not contain your credit card number. It cannot be reversed or decoded to reveal your card information. Tokens can only be used by Braintree to process authorized transactions. They are meaningless outside of Braintree’s secure systems. At the bookstore level, we cannot see or retrieve your card details in any form.

Are you PCI compliant?

Yes. Our payment systems are designed to meet PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) requirements by ensuring that sensitive card data is handled only by our payment processor and not stored on our servers.

Can I ask you to remove my stored payment token?

Yes. You have the right to request removal of your stored payment token. Once your token is removed:

We will no longer be able to charge that card

Future refunds or charges may require an alternate method (such as a different card, check, or store credit)

Why can’t my payment token be removed if I have an active rental?

If you have an active rental, we must temporarily retain your payment token. This is necessary to:

Enforce the rental agreement you accepted

Process applicable fees or a buyout charge if the item is not returned

Once the rental is returned and any associated charges are resolved, you may request removal of the token.

How long do you keep payment tokens?

We keep payment tokens only as long as necessary to complete transactions, process refunds, manage active rentals or unresolved charges. We do not retain payment tokens for convenience or future use beyond these purposes.

How do I request removal of my payment token?

You can contact us through our website chat or customer service email. If there are no active rentals or pending transactions, we will remove the token.
